Designed, developed, prototyped and evaluated a mountain bike variable belt drive system tailored specifically to 'Downhill' mountain bikes. The proposed design allows instant shifting through an step-less gear range by using a continuously variable transmission (CVT) system. The design is backwards compatible with existing mountain bike standards and has no components in vunerable postions.
